Happy Birthday....

.......to Todd!!!!

I managed to finish Todd's birthday socks today. He'll get to wear them tomorrow to church. I'm rather proud of them. They're soft and fit him well. Yay!

He knew the socks were coming but this is a bag I started for him ages ago. He's been complaining about me not finishing it. I secretly finished it yesterday and surprised him with it this morning. He loves it. He's such a good husband.

Mom and Dad kept the kids for a few hours this afternoon for us. We ate at their place then headed out...mostly to run errands. In the midst of our errand running, however, we did manage to get by the new coffee/hookah pipe cafe. It was awesome.

FYI: Petra Cafe, on HWY 377 in Watauga (Texas)
Great, great coffee. Not bitter, very smooth, just enough flavor (when you order something like Cafe Mocha).
Their Hookah pipes are fun.
Service is very friendly and welcoming.
Atmosphere is clean and cozy.
2 thumbs up!

Saturday's Game

Hunter had another game on Saturday. They played the team they originally beat but this game was much different. They were really good and the game was close the whole time. In fact, it ended in a tie.
Ike came late with my folks. This is how he likes to entertain himself during the games.

I tried to get a pic of him while it still looked like he was walking along the court's wall but I was too slow.

Nyaah-nyaah

Do you see that fish? This is the fish that taunted us all day Thursday at the State Park. He would lunge at, catch and eat bugs right by our bait. He would rub himself along our fishing line. He would ease himself up toward the bait then ease back again.

Jerk.

Yet another blog

In an effort to spare you from my knitting ramblings and also in an effort to be like all my other knitting friends, I have started a new blog that'll have all my knitting content.

If you are so inclined, it is here:

Karibu sana. (it means "welcome")

Spring Has Sprung!

Know how I know?

No, it's not the note on my calendar on the 21st.
No, it's not the robins in my yard.
No, it's not the road trip and camping.
No, it's not the flowers and open windows.

It's the Cadbury Cream eggs!!!

Spring does not officially arrive until I eat one. Today it is SPRING....and I think I have a sugar rush.

There had to be.....

...something useful to do with all that wind in West Texas. These windmills are EVERYWHERE. You can see them from Hwy 20 and it looks like a lot of them until you start travelling the back roads. OMG! There are thousands of the things. Miles and miles and miles of 'em. They are gigantic and silent and mezmorizing...and beautiful when they spin. We were completely enthralled.

I don't know how effecient they are as power-makers, but I like 'em.

P.S. If you get a chance, click on these photos to enlarge them. It's the only way to really see all the windmills marching off into the distance.

Spring Broke

That's what the green shirt Todd bought me for St. Patty's Day said. I love it!

We did the West Texas thing for Spring Break. Hunter did Houston with his grandma first then we did the zoo and then we packed up and headed West. We spent a night at Abilene State Park and were blindsided by a cold snap. There are a few words to describe being that cold and having to sleep on a cement slab....but I can't put them here. Otherwise, it was actually fun. We headed from there to Snyder to see Todd's family and to experience the inaugural shoot of the Snyder Single Action Shooting Society....called something special but it's not coming to me right now. Also fun (the youngest 2 and I hung out at the house till the shooting part was over).

Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure.

This is the one, single, only reason we went camping. So Josiah could fish.

No he didn't catch anything. That wasn't the point.

Um, isn't that cheating?

You know, we ain't really "cow-folk" here at our house but I must say, my hubby looks pretty dang good in a cowboy hat.

You go girl!!

I did it! I finished a real-live pair of socks! I shouldn't have made them with such cheap yarn but I didn't want the stress of expensive yarn while learning a new technique. I like 'em, even though they're not comfy (due to the acrylic yarn). I will definitely be making more socks in my future....hopefully my near future.

BTW, I had some fat-legged, pasty-skinned stranger model these for me........it was definitely NOT me.

Spring

This is the time of year I miss our house on Hill Hedge. There may be a few azaleas around here but not many, and the blooming trees are few and far between...and only white. I'm glad we're here with family, but I sure miss Montgomery's flowers. And trees.

Goalie

Hunter got to play goalie on Saturday.

Umm......

They lost.

Can I just say one more time how much I love his coach? He even benched a player for bad attitude. I've heard how some of the other coaches talk to their players and I know for sure it's the grace of God that Hunter got this coach. Even the other parents have great attitudes (a rarity in the leagues around here). Miss after miss they were cheering Hunter on saying, "Great try!" and "Good job!"
God is seriously good, ya'll.
